Embracing Positivity: Overcoming Our Default Negative Mindset

Why Do We Think Negative by Default?

Our ancestors faced severe survival challenges, from predatory animals to harsh weather conditions. To prepare for these threats, their brains were wired for survival, leading to a natural tendency towards anger, high energy, muscle tension, and mental agitation. These responses were essential for survival and have been passed down through evolution. However, modern humans have also developed the cerebral cortex, enabling us to override these fear-based emotions with reason.

Unfortunately, many of us still default to negative thinking because we haven't fully developed this part of our brain. Yet, the potential to cultivate a more positive mindset is within us all.

Who Can Think Positive?

Positive thinkers are those who nurture their cerebral cortex and embrace a loving and kind society. They appreciate beauty, love themselves and others, and engage with art, music, dance, literature, and spirituality. By practicing and committing to developing these aspects of their brain, they can become positive by default.

How are positive people?

Positive individuals are wise and kinder to themselves. They connect deeply with music and art, believe in a higher power, and maintain their connection through gratitude and devotion. They understand that they are not alone and treat themselves with compassion. Rather than criticizing themselves, they identify and work on their negatives to elevate themselves to the next level.

In constrast, negative individuals often treat themselves far worse than they treat others. They harbor harsh self-criticism, anger, regret, and blame, both towards themselves and others. They may believe they are cursed to live such a life, unaware that positive individuals face equally significant challenges and adversities.

How to Be Kinder on Yourself

Being kinder to oneself starts with recognizing that negative emotions and stress are part of the human journey. Positive individuals know that life’s beauty lies in its challenges, which offer opportunities to transcend negativity. Here are steps to be kinder to yourself:

  1. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a friend. Acknowledge your struggles without harsh self-criticism.
  2. Engage in Positive Activities: Surround yourself with activities that bring joy and fulfillment, such as art, music, and spending time with loved ones.
  3. Develop a Gratitude Practice: Regularly reflect on the things you are grateful for. This shifts your focus from what’s wrong to what’s right in your life.
  4. Connect with Your Spirituality: Whether through meditation, prayer, or nature, find ways to connect with something greater than yourself. This can provide comfort and perspective.
  5. Seek Support: Remember, you are not alone. Reach out to friends, family, or support groups when you need encouragement or a listening ear.

You Are Not Alone

Every human experiences negativity, stress, and loneliness at times. Recognizing that you are not alone in these feelings can be incredibly comforting. Positive individuals understand that these challenges are common and part of life’s journey. They use their experiences to learn, grow, and inspire others.

Life is beautiful because it gives us the opportunity to face and transcend negativity. The journey, with all its ups and downs, is more beautiful than the destination. Every moment is important, and embracing each one can lead to a fulfilling and joyful life.

Positive thinkers help themselves and others by being examples of inspiration. They are loved and appreciated by many. Health, happiness, peace, and abundance naturally flow to those who embrace positivity. While they too face pain, sickness, challenges, and loneliness, they view these as opportunities to learn more, do more, have more, and become more. Their journey leaves a footprint for others to follow, creating a ripple effect of positivity.

Embrace your journey, be kind to yourself, and remember, you are never alone. Through practice and commitment, you can transform your mindset and inspire others to do the same.
